Friday early afternoon has seen Rafa Benitez meet the media ahead of travelling to the south coast.

The Manager promising the fans that even if the team lose to Southampton, he will make sure the players do not give up until the bitter end.

Let’s hope that Rafa Benitez can get more out of this Newcastle team than many of us suspect they have in them.

Total effort should be the very least Rafa and the supporters can expect and just maybe he can find a way to get improvement that could give Newcastle a glimmer of hope.

That has to start tomorrow and Rafa Benitez says that when it comes to his selection up front, he has a bit of an embarrassment of riches.

Mitrovic and Perez came on as subs at Norwich and changed the game, particularly in the Serbian’s case.

However, Rafa maybe takes the positivity too far when he claims ‘Cisse was good’ at Carrow Road – the fans contributing to our player ratings definitely didn’t believe so.

Mitrovic surely has to start on Saturday and as for who else should be on the pitch as well – I don’t think many would be choosing Cisse ahead of Perez.

Rafa Benitez:

“If we cannot win we have to keep fighting right until the end. That is our message to the fans – we will not give up.

“21 points still to play for, so we have to concentrate just on this game. Get 3 points if we can (against Southampton).

“Every session the players are giving everything. We try to improve a little bit every day to be ready for the next challenge.

“The team has to improve mentally and approach the game with confidence.

“Cisse was good the other day, Mitrovic is scoring goals and Perez is doing well. We have quality and I have to decide.”
