Norwich fans have had their spirits lifted with a first win 12 games – beating West Brom at the Hawthorns.

On the other hand, it is three months since the Canaries managed a home win.

Up against Newcastle who have lost their last eight away matches, it has all the makings of a classic…

A three goal win would take Newcastle above Norwich and potentially out of the relegation zone, whilst victory for the home team would leave them six points above United.

Somebody has to pick up points but who it be, are Delia’s boys )and girls) confident?

We searched out the reaction of the Norwich fans ahead of the match, via one of their top message boards at the PinkUn:

‘The Newcastle team, and the entire club in fact, seem pretty low on self-esteem and even the event of this week must add to this.

Shearer has virtually written them off and this speaks volumes to me considering his connections.

I doubt Benitez will overcome this as a relegation struggle in the PL is not really his territory. In fact the whole scene has changed quite a lot since he was a relative success at Liverpool.

It’s a different ball game Rafa.’

‘Think we’ll win by a couple of goals.

Mitrovic will get absolutely nothing from Klose and he’s just not the type of forward who causes us problems anyway.

O’Neil and Howson being at the top of their game as they have been in the last two matches will be vital for us though. They have some quality attacking midfielders (when they can be arsed) and those two will need to protect that defence and ensure Mitrovic stays in Klose’s pocket isolated all match.

They might cause us some problems if they go 442 and start attacking down the flanks with Wjnaldum and Townsend, but we’re at home and they’d leave themselves open to counters.

They won’t match our workrate, you can be sure of that. Neither Mitrovic or Cisse are they type of forwards who hurt us and they’re as bad at the back as we were before Klose settled and they have a few injuries.

IF and it’s quite a big if admittedly, we play well, the ref has a fair game and Howson and O’Neil are as good as they have been recently I can’t see anything but a resounding win.’

‘Had a dream that we lost 1-4. To be fair, Arsene Wenger was Newcastle manager and Keith Bertschin scored our goal while Mirandinha bagged a hat trick for the Geordies.

I do think we’ll struggle though. It’ll be a god-awful game and I hope we nick it. 1-0.’

‘A point would actually suit us a lot better than it would Newcastle. But would suit Sunderland even more…’

‘We have an awful recent record against toon and have scored just 4 goals in the last 8 games and gone nearly 1000 mins since a striker scored and more than 2 games since a striker had a shot on target – I would love a big win but not sure I can see it.

Against that, if we can’t take advantage of a team with a very makeshift back 5 (last time they visited like that, was our last win against them 4-2 under lambert) we deserve to go down.

As always this season it’s all about whether our team turns up, we don’t and its toon’s to snatch. All that said, I am feeling confident, a scrappy game first goal wins, no finger nails left, hearts suffering from tension but 3 pts to us and 1-0 win.’

‘Hmmmm with Newcastle having to change their (already weak) backline – I wonder if they might move to 3 at the back and play Aarons and Townsend as wingbacks?

Anyway, if we can limit their midfield runners (Sissoko and Wijnaldum) I predict a COMFORTABLE Norwich win..’

‘I’m just hoping we don’t bottle it, if we play as we can, we should win (fingers crossed!)’

‘No one else has said it, so I will. City to win 6-2.’
