Norwich City have revealed their secret weapon before the relegation clash with Newcastle United.
The Canaries are hoping to emulate Leicester City with the latest initiative to help them escape the drop.
Norwich City posting the following on their website:
‘More than 25,000 clap banners have been distributed around Carrow Road to help ensure an electric atmosphere for this afternoon’s crunch Premier League meeting with Newcastle United.
Every home supporter will have their own banner, as the Yellow Army creates a cauldron of noise throughout today’s game.
The banners have been made by the same company that produces the ones successfully used by league leaders Leicester City all season.’
Personally, I think that these are on the same level as the (very sad) big foam hands and music played after a goal, as we used to see at Middlesbrough in days gone by.
If supporters need these to provide an atmosphere then it is almost an own goal before you start, admitting that the support is so crap that you need these very annoying things in place of just getting behind their team.
Having said that, I would try anything to try and stimulate our players – though I think hitting Newcastle United’s shirkers with these clap banners might be more productive than waving them about in the stands.
