Massive date with destiny for Rob Elliot today
A big day ahead for Rob Elliot.
The Newcastle United goalkeeper will go under the knife to sort out the cruel injury he suffered when away on international duty.
Playing for Ireland against Slovakia, Elliot collapsed in agony as he twisted his knee when trying to change direction.
Rob Elliot posting this message on Tuesday morning.
“Operation day!! Have ordered one new acl replacement from the menu for a right knee.”
Recovery time from the Anterior Cruciate Ligament injury will almost certainly take the keeper beyond the start of next season.
A start of next season which is 13 August 2016 for the Premier League, or 6 August 2016 for that other place…
Turning 30 on the final day of this month, as a keeper (and a rarely used one at that), Rob Elliot still has plenty years left to build on the potential of this first proper run in the Premier League.
So good luck from us all on his operation today, plus a swift recovery.
