The Newcastle v Leicester player ratings by United fans, giving us a perfect overview of Monday night’s match at the King Power Stadium.
It might have been yet another defeat (Newcastle’s eighth in a row on the road) but at least the players emerged with some dignity for a change, despite coming away without a point or more.
Man of the match was just marginally Rob Elliot (6.0), despite only having one shot on target to deal with (the winner), he dealt with everything else confidently and had no chance with that overhead kick.
Best of the outfield players according to the fans, was Captain Jonjo Shelvey (5.9), who battled manfully in the middle of the pitch with minimal help from the woeful Vurnon Anita (4.3).
The Dutch midfielder was the starting player who received the lowest marks on his return, closely followed by Steven Taylor (5.0) and Moussa Sissoko (5.0).
The likes of Lascelles (5.6), Janmaat (5.7) and Mitrovic (5.6) were all seen as giving decent displays – but overall, a disciplined team effort but missing that extra bit of quality that would/could have produced a point or better.
These are the collective fan ratings as at noon on Wednesday 16 March.
