Here is the Newcastle team v Sunderland that can set United on the way to saving their Premier League lives.

Not a case of charging forward recklessly but surely it is time Newcastle went on the offensive with such a struggle for goals this season.

Understandably, Rafa Benitez went for a team selection/formation to try and frustrate league leaders Leicester on Monday night and it took a wonder goal to break down United.

A major positive was that Rafa also helped inspire his team to actually create some decent chances of their own and it was only bad luck/finishing that prevented at least a point coming home to Tyneside.

Sunderland are not Leicester and if as expected Sam Allardyce repeats his negative tactics of the derby on Wearside, then it just reinforces the need for Newcastle to get at them and try and score the first goal and build from there.

It was revealed earlier today that Chancel Mbemba is back in training, so a no-brainer to have him back in if fit enough.

Not much in it but I would keep Taylor in ahead of Lascelles alongside him.

I would go for two up top but with Ayoze Perez obviously expected to work back when the mackems have possession.

I was going to go radical and have Siem de Jong ahead of Wijnaldum who hasn’t really been at it in recent times – but against Leicester he did show signs that Rafa Benitez might help him to produce more in these remaining nine matches.
