Rafa Benitez now has something else to worry about after Daryl Janmaat was forced off during Sunday’s match.
The Newcastle right-back had a poor game and was replaced by Vurnon Anita with 20 minutes to go.
However, the substandard display from the usually reliable Daryl Janmaat could be down to an underlying injury problem, as he has been forced to pull out of the Holland squad.
Danny Blind has lost four players from his original squad as he looks forward to taking on France (Friday 25 March) and then England (Tuesday 29 March).
As well as the Newcastle defender, Holland have also lost Erik Pieters (Stoke City), Ron Vlaar (AZ) and Jurgen Locadia (PSV).
Despite losing four players for the friendlies, Danny Blind has called up only one replacement and that is 21 year old Rick Karsdorp, the full-back who has now taken Daryl Janmaat’s spot in the Feyenoord team.
Rafa Benitez has already lost emergency left-back Jack Colback for the next two games at Norwich and Southampton, the former Sunderland player picking up his tenth booking of the season and collecting a two match suspension in the process.
After welcoming back Chancel Mbemba, the last thing Benitez needs is to find an all new full-back pairing, so fingers crossed that Janmaat’s withdrawal is just to allow him time to shake off a knock rather than anything serious.
The full squad now reads:
Goalkeepers: Jasper Cillessen (Ajax), Kenneth Vermeer (Feyenoord), Jeroen Zoet (PSV)
