Jeff Stelling has given his opinion on how Newcastle will get on against Bournemouth.

A secret behind closed doors match on Wednesday saw the likes of Siem de Jong and Vurnon Anita get a run out against a Hartlepool eleven, the Newcastle team losing the friendly to the team Jeff Stelling follows.

Anita and de Jong have been confirmed as available for Saturday but the Sky Sports anchor man doesn’t believe they or any other Newcastle players will help give United the win they desperately need.

Jeff Stelling has gone with a 1-1 prediction and as he says, this could take Newcastle out of the relegation zone – if both Norwich and Sunderland lose, but he wonders if that will be enough to save Steve McClaren?

Like apparently so many in the media, Stelling says he likes McClaren but at the same time admits Newcastle have been rubbish under the United Head Coach.

Like many Newcastle fans, the Sky Sports presenter can’t understand why Ayoze Perez can’t get a game, especially when the likes of Gouffran and Riviere are used ahead of him.

Jeff Stelling:

“One point could be enough to see Newcastle move out of the relegation places but enough to save Steve McClaren’s job?

“Not according to some of the headlines going around.

“I do like McClaren, but their run is just unacceptable.

“They were really poor against Stoke and I don’t understand why Ayoze Perez is being left on the bench again and again, when they need somebody with spark.

“Bournemouth are better away, with only one defeat away in nine at Arsenal, and I certainly think they will get something here.”
