Willian has summed up perfectly Saturday teatime at Stamford Bridge.

Guus Hiddink chose a front five of Costa, Willian, Fabregas, Pedro and Hazard – obviously not too fearful of a Newcastle attack who have scored less goals away from home than all the other 91 clubs.

Chelsea star man Willian says that the blues ‘killed’ Newcastle in he first 20 minutes…the home side three goals up within 17  minutes and it could have been five or six by that point if Newcastle hadn’t been carrying the luck!

After blowing United away, the Chelsea winger says it was then just ‘more and more easy to play’ against Newcastle.

Such was the gulf between the two clubs, it was very fortunate for McClaren and his players that Chelsea were happy to relax and knock it about, rather than see just how many goals they could possibly score against such feeble opposition.

A big factor in Newcastle only conceding five was surely Guus Hiddink reining back his players with Tuesday’s vital Champions League match against PSG looming.

Chelsea’s crisis is last 16 of the Champions League, fifth round of the FA Cup and now mid-table obscurity in the Premier League – the reality for ‘easy’ Newcastle is somewhat different…

Willian talking to Chelsea TV:

“We killed them in 20 minutes and then it was more and more easy to play.

“Now we have more confidence to go there (PSG) and to play. Paris have a great team, great players, but we go there to try to win the game.”

“Diego is a great player. We have no doubts about him and his quality. He has scored so many goals.

“I gave one assist for him and he gave one to me. I enjoy playing with him a lot.”
