Newcastle United are missing 13 players for the clash with West Brom on Saturday afternoon.
At his Friday afternoon pre-match press conference, Steve McClaren confirmed that as well as Jamaal Lascelles being suspended, he also has 12 players on the injured list.
With problems at the back in particular, with Paul Dummett and Chancel Mbemba on the sidelines along with Lascelles.
Really depressing news with Mbemba, as McClaren confirmed that the defender was going to see specialists in both London and Belgium, Sky Sports saying that they understood that the player would miss at least the next month.
“At the last count we had 12 out, with one suspension. So we have drafted in three Under-21 players.
“We are suffering a bit at the moment through injuries but we have a decent team out tomorrow and decent squad so we carry on.”
As to the identity of the 12 injured and missing tomorrow, along with Jamaal Lascelles, it would appear to be the following dozen players.
Siem de Jong
There was some confusion with Kevin Mbabu, as Steve McClaren didn’t mention him specifically either way. However, Sky Sports and a number of other media reported him as being back and available, with only the Chronicle claiming the Swiss defender was one of those still on the injured list.
