Former manager warns off Anderlecht playmaker from rejoining Mitrovic and Mbemba

One-time Anderlecht manager, John Boskamp, has warned Dennis Praet from rejoining former team-mates Chancel Mbemba and Aleksandar Mitrovic at Newcastle.

Boskamp has managed numerous clubs including many in Belgium, with a four year stint at Anderlecht in the 90s.

If you are a real statto then you may recall he had a brief stay at Stoke City in 2005/06 but failed to get them promotion to the Premier League.

Now a pundit in the Belgian Sports Media, John Boskamp has told Anderlecht playmaker Dennis Praet that he should avoid both Newcastle and Sunderland.

The exciting 21 year old attacking midfielder has been tipped to be the next Anderlecht player to move to the Premier League but Boskamp says that he should set his sights higher than the north east pair.

Dennis Praet was capped at full international level at the age of 20 and has been established in the Anderlecht first team for some four years now, making 168 appearances – including 18 in the Champions League.

Boskamp has praised the young midfielder who had been publicly criticised by the Anderlecht club president and now says that he must make sure he makes the right move – a view no doubt influenced by the relegation struggle both Mbemba and Mitrovic have found themselves in after high profile transfers from Anderlecht to Newcastle.

Liverpool are amongst the Premier League clubs credited with interest in the young playmaker, Dennis Praet having already scored 25 goals in his brief club career and making countless others.

Johan Boskamp speaking to Het Belang Van Limburg:

“After the criticism of President Vanden Stock, Dennis Praet replied with his feet.

“It is important for Dennis Praet to now find the right club to join.

“If he chooses the Premier League then he must sign for a team with footballing abilities, NOT for teams like Sunderland or Newcastle because they are going under (struggling and potentially relegated).”
