Newcastle supporters endured more embarrassment and humiliation via their highly paid superstars on Saturday but what did Chelsea fans make of it?
Whilst Steve McClaren was keen to talk about how difficult it was against such a great team, the Chelsea supporters didn’t appear to generally see their team in quite the same elite light.
Whilst Guus Hiddink is unbeaten since returning to Stamford Bridge, in the Premier League Chelsea have failed to win at home against West Brom, Everton, Watford and Manchester United.
So no wonder they enjoyed their 5-1 (could have been 10-1) romp in the end.
Some amusing comments below where clearly a section of Chelsea fans see themselves as hard done to and having to put up with watching rubbish for so long (10 minutes?).
Though for ourselves, the most telling ones are talking about the state of the Newcastle team – not pleasant viewing…
We searched out the reaction of the Chelsea fans via one of their top message boards CFCNet:
‘Newcastle are crap, let’s attack from minute 1.’
‘Newcastle are abysmal but we have still to win with Hiddink on bench at home in the PL. So another forgettable draw? We NEED to win to escape from the bottom…’
‘Find myself strangely unfussed about this match, I’m already thinking 100% about the PSG game. It’s extremely unlikely we’ll get relegated, the situation is give every ounce of what we have in the 2 cup competitions and put our hearts and souls into winning both.’
‘Not having a go at anyone but it’s such a shame that the malaise on the pitch has affected us too. It’s like not many people seem even happy when we score. It’s sad that Chelsea, who mean so much to us all – have drained our enthusiasm.’
‘I don’t like the idea of Matic against Wijnaldum, with Shelvey breaking from midfield, we were better off giving Mikel the holding role; don’t be surprised if we see 2 Newcastle players getting on the wrong side of Matic on a regular basis.’
‘(After 10 minutes of the match…) Can we play them every week…’
‘(At 2-0) Glad my 1-1 prediction was wrong! Wonderful that Diego is still banging the goals in. Let’s give the Barcodes an absolute hammering.’
‘Damn. I thought they said Diego was fat and couldn’t run. Lol. Brilliant assist for Willian. 3-0.’
‘I know Newcastle have been woeful, but we look so much better when we play with more expansive attacking football.’
‘Great result, we really needed a win today and things couldn’t have gone much better, apart from JT going off. We have owed this lot a good hiding for all those recent spawny wins up at their place.’
‘On the one hand Fabregas ran the match once again, on the other Newcastle just gave it to him.
Nobody put any pressure on Fabregas all game, not even the guy in the No 10 role.
And the only CB I can remember all season who is slower than Coloccinni is Steven Taylor. Both were seriously slow. I always think of Steven Taylor as a young skinny CB – but at just 30 he looks like an ageing Steve Perryman now. Should be on the terraces looking that heavy.
Only Villa have looked so poor in our games so far.’
‘Fabregas’s stamp on Mitrovic’s achilles 10m before was deliberate and nasty, and never mind that it was inthe box, he deserved a Red card (watch his eyes just before, he looks down at Mitrovic’s feet to know where to stamp.’
‘Newcastle were poor. But the best way to beat a poor team is to make them accept their place early on. We did exactly that.’
‘Hard to take much from the game but the enjoyment (and I did); Newcastle were truly terrible, so bad that they defy any kind of analysis of their opponents.’
‘Newcastle were diabolical, but you can only beat what’s put in front of you. The best bit about the result was Alan Shearer on MOTD, boy he was pi**ed off!’
