Steve McClaren thinks that the Newcastle fans were ‘very harsh’ with some of their chants during today’s defeat against Watford.
Four defeats in a row, out of both cups and in the relegation zone.
These Newcastle supporters…they are never happy!
Amongst the chants from the travelling fans were:
‘We want our money back’
“We’re sh*t and we’re sick of it’
‘We want our Newcastle back’
Steve McClaren waffles on (as usual) about the players having tried, maybe they are, maybe they aren’t, but McClaren just doesn’t get it.
The Newcastle fans aren’t just unhappy about this or that player trying or not trying, or this or that player being rubbish.
They are making clear that they are totally fed up with the state of the team, the state of the squad, Mike Ashley, Lee Charnley, Graham Carr and yes…you Steve McClaren.
All of you have played a part in dragging this club down to the mess we now see.
Mike Ashley is obviously the main culprit but as his latest willing puppet, Steve McClaren is not far behind.
An out of work manager sacked by a Championship club, with a track record of repeated failure, gets offered the Newcastle job with no say on transfers or indeed…anything?
He takes the job and then makes the situation even worse with his contribution to the charade/chaos.
Steve – they are chanting at you mate, it isn’t just the players, or the owner etc.
The supporters think you are just as hopeless as the rest of them at the club.
“I thought it was very harsh (chants from Newcastle fans at Watford).
“I think we have had two games, Leicester and Palace, where we were all angry and frustrated and we could accept criticism.
“The attitude of the players, that’s all they (supporters) ask. Do they work, do they chase, do they win tackles, do they create chances?
“We have had 25 crosses…25 crosses in the game, they have gone across the keeper and Gomes has made saves, our keeper has not had a save to make – you can’t ask any more from the players.
“So we just have to get on with it – unfortunately that is the nature of football and players have to be big enough and bold enough, have the courage, we have talked about that – they are certainly having that.
“It is just not having luck at one end and not sticking the balls in the net.”
