At his press conference ahead of the Manchester United match, Steve McClaren has confirmed the arrival of Henri Saivet subject to him passing his medical.

Bordeaux have also confirmed the deal and wished their (soon to be) former player well.

Tuesday night’s match will obviously be too soon for 25 year old Saivet to be involved but Steve McClaren is also sweating on the potential absence of three of his current players.

The United boss revealed that Fabricio Coloccini didn’t train today and faces a fitness test before tomorrow night’s match, the United Captain forced off on Saturday with a reported hamstring problem.

Better news saw McClaren confirm that Jack Colback is back in training after a ‘niggle’ forced him out of the FA Cup match at Watford.

Whilst Steve McClaren says he has two other injury worries with both Kevin Mbabu and Florian Thauvin picking up knocks against Watford.

Steve McClaren at today’s press conference, the following quotes released by the club:

“Colo didn’t train today but Jack Colback did. Colo will have a fitness test. Thauvin and Mbabu have knocks.

“Everybody who’s watched us recently, we have controlled games and normally you win those. It’s unfortunate but we have to solve it.

“We’ve been in every game and had a chance of winning them all. But we’ve not taken our opportunities. It’s a fine line.

“Man Utd are a dangerous team with very good players who can hurt you on their day. We’ve got to make sure they don’t.

‘McClaren confirmed that Henri Saivet is on Tyneside having a medical and discussing terms. “We are just waiting for the outcome.”’
