Premier League recent form table puts different light on Manchester United match

The Premier League recent form table show vastly different fortunes for Newcastle United and West Ham.

Newcastle languish in 17th spot with just five points from 18, after the win at Spurs and draws against Villa and Manchester United in the last half dozen Premier League games.

On the other hand, only Arsenal are ahead of West Ham in the Premier League recent form table, as they are unbeaten with three wins and three draws in their last six matches.

As well as giving pointers to Saturday’s match at St James Park, this recent form table also shines extra/different light on the Manchester United clash on Tuesday.

As the table shows, Manchester United are one of only three clubs in worse form than Newcastle at the minute – their only win in the last six games being at home against Swansea who second bottom in the form league.

Tuesday night’s game isn’t totally devalued because of this but Newcastle were at home against a team in poor form, who aren’t even one of the top two or three teams on a good day.

On the other hand, West Ham are in great form with four wins in a row (all competitions) and especially with playmaker Dimitri Payet back from injury.

No reason why Newcastle can’t get a win tomorrow but I have a feeling they might have to play better than on Tuesday, certainly at the back, if we are going to avoid the Hammers doing the double this season.

West Ham’s last six results with latest one listed first;

Bournemouth 1 West Ham 3

West Ham 2 Liverpool 0

West Ham 2 Southampton 1
