Newcastle fans hoping to support their team at Watford today have been blocked from attending, despite plenty of empty seats in the away end.

To buy a ticket in advance, Newcastle supporters would have had to pay a £35 supplement, unless they were already a season ticket holder or member at Newcastle.

So if you are a Geordie exile in the south, maybe even living next door to Vicarage Road, and this was the only game you might attend this season, you would have had to buy a £35 membership first.

When Mike Ashley should be grateful for every bit of support Newcastle get in these desperate times, it is just ludicrous.Forcing fans to pay the extra £35 just for the privilege of being able to buy a ticket and support the team.

A phone call to the Watford ticket office this (Saturday) morning has confirmed that the Newcastle end is not sold out, however United fans are not allowed to pay on the day.

On the other hand, Watford ARE selling tickets for the home areas of the ground for today’s match, but only to those who have a history of already buying tickets at Vicarage Road in the past.

My advice to anybody living in the area/is prepared to travel and who wants to see the game, is to go along and then ask a friendly local to buy a ticket(s) on your behalf.

If you wanted to check for yourself before trying, the Watford ticket office number is 01923 223023 but be warned, it took nearly half an hour in a queue to speak to somebody.
