Michael Owen has been casting his eye over Newcastle’s visit to the Emirates.

Like pretty much everybody else, the former United striker thinks his old club will still be deep in relegation trouble when the final whistle blows on Saturday.

In his column for BetVictor, Michael Owen predicts that Arsenal will be leading at half-time and full-time, with the Gunners having won six of their last seven at home.

Newcastle have actually won two of the last four away matches, with victories over Bournemouth and Tottenham, alongside defeats to Palace and West Brom.

However, with only five goals away from home all season, it will be a pleasant surprise if Newcastle score, never mind pick up any points.

To put any pressure on the hosts, you think that the Magpie must score first and give Arsenal questions to answer, rather than just sitting in and hoping they can survive wave after wave of red and white attacks.

With relegation rivals Aston Villa and Sunderland playing each other, somebody has to pick up points there!

Defeat for Newcastle and a win for the mackems would put them only two points behind us, a situation that would reinforce just how bad NUFC have been this season, no matter how much waffle Steve McClaren talks about hard luck and bad referees.

Michael Owen:

“The Gunners have won eight successive PL games against the Magpies and it is hard to see past another home win for the league leaders who have dropped just two points out of their last 21 at the Emirates.”
