Newcastle fans were gutted at the final whistle at St James Park, only seconds after that last gasp goal, but what about Everton fans?

The scousers the better team in the first half but Newcastle coming more into the game as the second half went on.

So were the Everton fans magnanimous in victory?

We searched out the reaction of the Everton fans via two of their top message boards Toffeetalk and NSNO.

They’re firmly on top now.’

‘Newcastle fans have got some cheek. We should have had a penalty and they should be down to 10 and they are complaining.’

‘That (Mitrovic) miss surely must be the moment of luck we need.’

‘How s*** was their defending for our goal though. All those blocks then they do that. F***ing knobheads.’

‘Everyone could see that we battered them , only poor finishing made it look respectable from their point of view.’

‘F*** you and your One city club aren’t we ace big club fans.’

‘Deserved that overall – although for a change we have Howard to thank for some fine keeping that quite literally kept us in it in the second half.

Should have even out of sight by the end of the first half though – need to start taking our chances. Three points is three points though – happy Boxing Day blues.’

‘Some very conflicting reports about this game – ranging from us battering them to us being appalling…’

‘Great win but its papering over a lot of cracks that are obviously there in the team. Still should be doing miles better than what we are.’

‘How unfortunate, those poor f***ing Geordies, at christmas time as well.’

‘Plus…Barcodes back where they belong (in the relegation zone).’

‘Much needed win. Actually feel a bit sorry for Newcastle there.’

‘We deserved to win this game – Newcastle 1 shot on target, only shame was Rom’s run ended.’

Toffee Talk:

‘Tom you beautiful man you!!! What a way to win it.’

‘Martinez did show some growth putting 2 wingers on and making decent subs.’

‘My head hurts and my stomach is in bits , but don’t you just love a last minute winner!’

‘Very lucky Eliot punched the ball straight at Clev, otherwise we’d be all complaining about a 0-0 draw, which once again, should have been 3 points. Was ecstatic we got the win, but it was more a stroke of luck in my eyes. If Clev didn’t react so quick Martinez would be piled under more pressure and we’d all be more grumpy than before. Hardly think Martinez deserves credit, purely for this reason.

Call me pessimistic, but we still aren’t converting opportunities in the final third, and if not for Mitrovic bottling that sure-thing of a header, we would have only just rescued a point. It shouldn’t be that hard to score against Newcastle with the quality of players we have – they’d conceded the second most goals this season in the whole league, just behind Sunderland. I don’t think I’ll really see this as a victory unless we can back it up against Stoke and Spurs.’
