Steve McClaren has updated on the situation regarding three Newcastle injuries ahead of Sunday’s match.

The United Head Coach says that ‘squad-wise’ he will be the same as for Liverpool.

McClaren stating that both Cheick Tiote and Rolando Aarons are on their way back but are still a ‘couple of days away’.

Meanwhile defender Jamaal Lascelles who suffered the hamstring injury which meant Mike Williamson was recalled, is back ‘out on the grass’ but seemingly not in contention to be involved on Sunday.

As for Mike Williamson, his hamstring injury must be more serious than Lascelles, as no mention of him being close to returning.

Both Kevin Mbabu and Sylvain Marveaux got pitch time for the Under 21s on Monday but hard to see the Frenchman getting on the bench even if he is fit, with the likes of Perez and Thauvin likely to be sitting there against Spurs.

Kevin Mbabu was amongst the substitutes against Liverpool but is almost certain to have to settle for a place on the bench, with Paul Dummett having one of his better games against the scousers.

Steve McClaren:

“Squad-wise we are the same as we were last weekend. Tiote is a couple of days away, Aarons also. Lascelles is out on the grass.”
