Paul Merson has taken a look at this Saturday’s match between Arsenal and Newcastle.
Here are a few clues as to what the former Gooner is thinking, see if you can guess who he thinks is likely to just ‘edge’ it…
‘Walk in the park’…’Damage limitations’….’Good beating’.
Paul Merson can only see ‘an easy Arsenal win’ and has predicted a three goal win for the home side.
The Gunners have now edged ahead in the title race and their former player thinks they have to now act like potential champions.
Their following Premier League matches are Liverpool and Stoke away, followed by Chelsea at home, so I think we could well be looking at Arsenal going for the jugular when Newcastle visit on Saturday and making sure of the three points as early as possible.
As for Newcastle, Paul Merson thinks they will be simply going all out to avoid a real hammering.
Not difficult to predict the tactics either here, if ever there was a banker then it is this weekend when Arsenal will go all out attack as normal and Steve McClaren will have everybody behind the ball, as per usual.
I can’t wait!
Paul Merson talking to Sky Sports:
“I can’t see anything but an easy Arsenal win here. It was a bad result for Newcastle at West Brom, although I did feel for goalkeeper Karl Darlow as he had done well up to the goal.
“It was so important Arsenal got back to winning ways after the defeat by Southampton. That’s what champions would do, and they came through thanks to more magic from Mesut Ozil.
“I think it will be a walk in the park for the Gunners, and Newcastle will probably look at this as damage limitations, making sure they do not get a good beating.”
