Newcastle United have now been linked with a January move for Turkish international winger Kerim Frei.

After coming through the ranks at Fulham, Frei was only 19 years old when he moved for £2.5m to Besiktas in summer 2013.

However, the now 22 year old winger has struggled for game time with Besiktas this season and both Newcastle and West Brom are reported by Turkish media to want to bring him back to English football in January.

Newspaper AMK say that an initial loan deal would be the most likely arrangement with a commitment to buy if the loan arrangement worked out.

Kerim Frei has featured in the Europa League for Besiktas but hasn’t started a single league game this season.

The Turkish club have made a good start to the season and are only one point off top team Fenerbahce.

Frei has only been given 70 minutes in nine brief substitute appearances but has still contributed two goals.

This is only the latest of many players based in Turkey to be linked with a move to Newcastle and no doubt with the January transfer window opening soon, we will also see claimed moves for both Cisse and Tiote going in the other direction.
