Newcastle United’s young stars followed up the senior team’s victory over the scousers with their own win over Liverpool today.
Liverpool actually took the lead after half an hour but Newcastle winger Oliver Long equalised within seconds after the game restarted.
Goals from Oliver Long, Lewis Suddick and Louis Johnson gave United’s youngsters a deserved 3-1
As the winds swirled around Little Benton it made it difficult for both teams but Liverpool were creating the better chances, with United fortunately having Paul Woolston in good form between the sticks.
With Woolston keeping the scores level it provided the perfect platform for what ended up being an excellent win against a Liverpool side that started the game third from top, with Newcastle fourth bottom.
Lewis Suddick got the crucial goal to put Newcastle in front midway through the second half and then with a quarter of an hour remaining Louis Johnson made sure of the points with United’s third goal.
A great result and to put it into context, it was Liverpool’s first defeat since 29 August.
