To the surprise of absolutely nobody, Michael Owen thought that Newcastle were simply lucky to beat Liverpool last Sunday.

However, today the former United and Liverpool striker predicts Newcastle to get what they deserve.

Owen thinks (hopes?) that the Magpies will be brought ‘back down to earth’ at White Hart Lane.

Michael Owen thinks that after being rested against Monaco on Thursday, Harry Kane will spearhead a home win and grab all three points.

The only small piece of grudging praise from the player turned pundit, is that h acknowledges that Newcastle’s ‘energy levels’ were much better against Liverpool.

Against a Tottenham team who have drawn four of their eight home matches, a repeat of those energy levels could well give United every chance of adding another draw to the home side’s collection, hopefully.

Michael Owen writing for BetVictor:

“I thought the Reds were very unfortunate to go down 2-0 to Newcastle on Sunday in a very lacklustre 90 minutes at St James Park.

“I think Newcastle were flattered in their 2-0 defeat of Liverpool at St James Park on Sunday, albeit their energy levels seemed much improved, and I expect Spurs to bring the Magpies back down to earth at the Lane.

“Harry Kane rested for Thursday’s Europa League fixture with Monaco and with him fit and raring to go on Sunday Mauricio Pochettino’s side should seal all three points in North London.”
