Michael Owen has predicted the outcome of Newcastle v Liverpool on Sunday.
Predictably he doesn’t think it is going to be good news for Newcastle United but I do detect almost the faintest touch of sincerity in his comments about Newcastle’s plight.
Owen predicts a 2-0 or 2-1 win for Liverpool but does think there is scope for things to get very messy if Liverpool show the form that put six past Southampton on Wednesday night, despite Jurgen Klopp making seven changes to his team.
Michael Owen says that Steve McClaren is desperate (which many of us have already worked out…) for at least a draw against the visitors to restore some pride/confidence, after conceding eight goals in the last three hours of football.
The former Liverpool and Newcastle player forecasts doom and gloom for one set of supporters on Sunday, can our team prove both Owen and most of the rest of us wrong?
Michael Owen writing for Colossusbets:
“Talking of managers under pressure… Steve McClaren will be desperate for a result on Sunday after his side have conceded eight goals in their last two matches (3-0 Leicester, 5-1 Palace).
“But I fear it could be further doom and gloom against an in-form Liverpool.
“My main fancies are 2-0 and 2-1 to the Reds but if Newcastle don’t show up again, then it could be another very long afternoon for the home fans.
“It would be understandable if you wanted to include AOA (stands for ‘any other away’ score – as in more than 2-0/2-1!) in your perms, especially after that Liverpool performance in the Cup on Wednesday night (6-1 at Southampton).”
