I’m not going to the match on Sunday, I just can’t face it

I have a great seat in the East Stand and it took years of trying to get it, since I started going 40 years ago I think it’s the first match I just don’t fancy.

Plus, if we are going to get hammered, I don’t want it to be against scousers.

I was embarrassed after Saturday at Palace and had to face work on Monday.

I’m not a Geordie but born and bred in the north east, a 45 minute drive away from St James Park.

Enough about me though, just suppose

Just suppose 25,000 Newcastle fans felt like me on Sunday and the all-powerful Sky broadcast to a nation with a half empty stadium, just imagine the so called experts talking about how strange it was to be at such an atmosphere.

Just suppose Sky, who pay a fortune for the ‘product’, contacting Scudamore, the head of the Premier League, asking why your product was not what we pay you for.

Just suppose Ashley sees his advertising medium that is St James Park being shown in a negative light, even his adverts for 90% sales being overshadowed.

Just suppose the national press reporting the game, all headline the crowd and the atmosphere with little talk of the match.

Just suppose you tune in to Radio 5 live and talksport and listen to all the calls about how good it was to see people stand up to the owner.

Just suppose what the reaction is on match of the day Sunday night, can you just see the media darlings that are Liverpool obsessed being overshadowed by Geordies, who all have expectations that are too high.

Just suppose those who went to the match wore no colours or toon tops.

Just suppose the reporting on Look North and Tyne Tees was all about the crowd and not the match.

Just suppose we hurt Ashley just a little bit eh?

Just suppose it happened.

Enjoy the games lads and lasses, I don’t suppose it will happen.
