Reacting to the cruel killer goal seconds from time, Daryl Janmaat says that he and the rest of the team ‘have no time to be mad’ as they have West Brom on Monday.
After last season’s 2-0 win at the Hawthorns, the Dutch defender believes there is no reason why Newcastle can’t go there and do the same again.
However, he says that they have to recover and prepare immediately, which with Steve McClaren having decided not to trust his subs against Everton, means that the team will find it that bit harder after a tough game in difficult conditions.
Daryl Janmaat believed that luck deserted Newcastle and that Newcastle didn’t deserve to lose, despite Everton totally dominating the early stages.
Newcastle did have big chances but worthwhile checking out the match stats below.
Daryl Janmaat speaking to the club website:
“I have never lost a game like that before but we have no time to be mad as the next game is less than 48 hours away and that may be good for us.
“We have to recover, prepare and look forward to West Brom, we have to try and get a result there.
“It will be a tough game but there is no reason why we cannot win there. We did it last season and so we know how it feels to win there, we will remember that on Monday.
“Whenever you lose a game it is tough…but to suffer that in the last minute is even worse.
“We didn’t deserve to lose either, especially in the second half.
“The first 25 minutes was clear and that belonged to Everton, but I felt that if we could survive that and go in 0-0 at half-time we could build on that.
“The way we came back in the second half was very good. We played well, created some big chances and we deserved more than that. We just didn’t get the luck.”
