Chancel Mbemba says that you have to admit it was a fantastic goal by Ayew that prevented Newcastle taking all three points.

The Newcastle defender saying that he thought United were in control until the break but Villa were the better team in the second half.

Mbemba thinks the team continued to fight all the way to the final whistle and now have to react with a win against Everton after dropping down to the brink of the relegation zone again.

The former Anderlecht star says that he is enjoying his popularity with Newcastle fans and that it really motivates him when he hears the supporters singing ‘his song’ every single game.

However, he hopes in the upcoming games the fans will be singing ‘every player’s name’…

Chancel Mbemba speaking to NUFC TV:

“I think the match was a hard one, we came out of it a little bit disappointed as we wanted three points obviously – but in football that is what happens. We drop down a few places and have to work hard to win the next game.

“We took the lead and looked quite comfortable, a great goalĀ from Ayew to equalise, a fantastic goal you have to admit.

“We controlled the first half and were happy but conditions on the pitch were absolutely awful, very difficult second half, but we were fighting and gave it everything until the end.”

‘The fans sang their song about you again, how does that make you feel?’

“It really motivates me when I hear the fans singing my name, it is really fantastic and it makes me want ti work even harder for the club and the fans. So a big thank you to all the fans for singing my name every single game.

“I hope in the next few games, the fans will be singing every player’s name.”
