Breaking News: Newcastle recall Mike Williamson from Wolves to save us all

The breaking news on Tuesday morning is that Newcastle United have recalled Mike Williamson from Wolves to save us all!

The defender was due to stay at Wolves until January but Newcastle have cut short that loan spell with United in dire straits, with only Villa keeping us off the bottom of the table.

The move has been credited by the club to the fact that Jamaal Lascelles has suffered a ‘minor hamstring injury’.

However, there must be every likelihood that Mike Williamson could go straight into the team to gace Liverpool on Sunday.

After the desperate performance against Leicester, Steve McClaren indicated he was giving another chance to Fabricio Coloccini as both captain and defender.

After what he witnessed at Crystal Palace, McClaren must be considering finally dropping the Argentine defender who has become arguably the team’s biggest weakness.

In contrast to United conceding eight goals in the last two games, Mike Williamson has inspired Wolves to three clean sheets in his five appearances.

Official Newcastle United Statement

‘Newcastle United have recalled defender Mike Williamson from a loan spell at Wolverhampton Wanderers, after Jamaal Lascelles suffered a minor hamstring injury during Saturday’s defeat at Crystal Palace.

Williamson made five appearances for the Championship side after heading to Molineux in October, and was due to remain in the Midlands until January.’
