The last representative match of 2015 saw Newcastle’s young stars of the future travel to play a Berwick Rangers eleven on Tuesday night (Watch the match highlights below).

Before kick-off, the friendly match at Berwick’s Shielfield Park saw a minute’s applause from players and fans in tribute to Pavel Srnicek.

Despite Newcastle starting the brighter it was the home side who scored first some 10 minutes before half-time.

United defender Jamie Cobain giving away a penalty that saw Andrew Russell score the spot-kick past Freddie Woodman.

Barlaser then came close to equaliser when his free-kick struck the post but Newcastle did level it before half-time, thanks to a penalty of their own. Gallacher impeded and Longstaff it tucking away.

The scoring wasn’t finished though in that first half, as with seconds to go Gallacher followed up winning the penalty with a (headed) goal of his own.

A less eventful second half saw only one further goal and it was substitute Stefan Broccoli who made it 3-1 to the visitors with some 15 minutes remaining.
