Steve McClaren was saved from hearing ‘You’re fired’ thanks to the efforts of his players on Sunday but Alan Sugar says Newcastle won’t be as lucky next weekend.

United travel next Sunday to play the team Alan Sugar supports, a Tottenham side who are unbeaten since the opening day of the season.

Lord Sugar says that he ‘could have sworn’ that Liverpool would have ‘mullered’ Newcastle but it just shows that even billionaires get it wrong sometimes, as Newcastle fans are only too well aware of.

He couldn’t believe that Newcastle won the game considering their form going into the contest but accepted after the final whistle that United had fully deserved the three points.

Alan Sugar used his Twitter account to send out messages as he watched the match and following the final whistle.

Alan Sugar:

“I could have sworn Liverpool would have mullered Newcastle. But they are losing 1-0 . Klopp didn’t start with Sturridge, wonder why .

“Newcastle fans on the edge of their seats with 3 mins to go hoping they don’t give the win away.

“That’s it 2-0 Newcastle.

“I don’t get it Klopp looked like he was on a roll. No disrespect everyone was beating Newcastle . They certainly deserved the win today.

“Yes they won’t be so lucky there at WHL .”
