It hardly needs saying but Alan Shearer is a real torch bearer for Tyneside.

After retiring from playing football, the Newcastle United legend has made a massive contribution to charities, both in the north east and further afield.

As well as the great work he does with his own ‘Alan Shearer Foundation’ (pictured above with Ant & Dec who are also big supporters of his Foundation), he is also game for a laugh when it comes to helping elsewhere.

Alan Shearer has now undertaken the ‘After Eight challenge’ (watch it below),  after being asked by former manager Kenny Dalglish, to support his wife’s cancer charity ‘The Marina Dalglish Appeal’.

She was diagnosed back in 2003 and both her and her family wanted to give something back and make a difference to others.

The Challenge

Two teams line up with a box of After Eight Mints – the first person in each team pops one on their forehead and has to manoeuvre it down to their mouth without using their hands.

As soon as they get it in their mouth the next person can start, and so on and so forth until the team have completed.
