Two Newcastle players have been named in the Football League Team of The Week.

Mike Williamson playing his first game in the Championship for over five years, turned in a man of the match performance for Wolves in their 2-0 win at Birmingham.

This also earned him a place in the Football League team of the week which covers all leagues below the Premier League.

Meanwhile, Adam Armstrong was scoring a brace of goals for the fourth time this season to earn a man of the match rating for Coventry.

His two goals helped the sky blues to a 3-2 win over Peterborough, making it 10 goals so far this season.

It also earned him a place in the Football League team of the week alongside Mike Williamson, the fourth time out of 13 matches where the 18 year old Geordie striker has been included in the team of the week this season.

Defender: Mike Williamson (Wolverhampton Wanderers)

Drafted in on loan from Newcastle United, it was a debut to remember for Williamson who was outstanding as Wolves overcame rivals Birmingham City.

The centre-half was faultless as he helped keep the in-form Blues at bay, earning the Man of the Match award in the 2-0 triumph at St Andrews.

Forward: Adam Armstrong (Coventry City)

It’s not the first time Armstrong has made our Team of the Week and, judging by his outstanding performances, it probably won’t be the last.

Sky Bet League 1’s top scorer added two more to his collection on Saturday, including a fantastic second to overturn a two-goal deficit in a 3-2 win against Peterborough United.
