Now Arsenal look to add Ayoze Perez in January – Reports

Manchester United and Tottenham have repeatedly been linked with Ayoze Perez and now Arsenal are said to be looking at a January move.

Over in Spain, Fichajes report that the Gunners have now shown interest in the 22 year old as they look to supplement their squad for a title challenge.

Last season Arsenal crushed Newcastle 4-1 at The Emirates but Ayoze Perez was United’s best player, scoring a cracking consolation goal.

Arsenal are currently level on points at the top with Manchester City, both on 26 points after 12 Premier League matches.

An added attraction for clubs looking at Ayoze Perez is that he would be available for European duty this season as he isn’t cup-tied.

In Arsenal’s case, they are six points adrift of Bayern Munich and Olympiakos with two games to play in the Champions League, whilst they could even potentially miss out on third place and Europa League football, as they are currently level on three points with bottom of the table Dinamo Zagreb.

Only yesterday, Steve McClaren was saying how highly he now rated Ayoze Perez, though after the Spaniard’s excellent first year at Newcastle, McClaren was guilty of overplaying a little just how much Perez had improved under him.

Steve McClaren:

“One of the players that has come out is Ayoze Perez. We have found a good little position and he’s thriving in it. He has came out of his shell.

“You go into any club and they will want a player who fans will want their name on the back of their shirt, they are heroes to the young fans. If we can get that it’s great.

“You look at Wijnaldum too, he’s another great example to follow. Ayo is similar.

“What Ayo has done is, he’s been good on the ball but he’s been good off it. He has been terrific off the ball. He loses the ball in training but he gets it back.

“He doesn’t get it back in a normal way, he’s a bit of a pest. And he wraps his leg around you and takes the ball.”
