News this morning that Moussa Sissoko is scheduled to have talks with Newcastle United over a new contract.

Both the club and  player said that offers were turned down in the summer from other clubs for the French international.

Whilst Steve McClaren has also talked this season of Moussa Sissoko being his key player as he attempts to get Newcastle back on track.

The reports this morning claim that Sissoko is looking for £100,000 a week before signing a new deal.

The Sunday People’s Neil Moxley saying that the player is prepared to commit himself to Newcastle but only if the money is right.

The newspaper basically claiming that Moussa Sissoko will turn his back on the ‘queue’ of Champions League clubs looking to sign him, if he can get Champions League level wages at Newcastle.

How much truth there is in the story is up for debate but what is a fact, is that all the players and agents know that from next season every single Premier League club will get tens of millions of pounds extra every year thanks to the new TV deal.

Previous rises in the TV deals have simply seen transfer fees and wages go up a few notches each time.

Moussa Sissoko appeared to indicate after the summer window closed, that he was going to give it until next summer and after the Euros in France, then look at his club future.

Some of his recent performances (before Bournemouth!) had hinted at better to come from the frustrating midfielder but still a long way from being a Champions League player, in terms of either form or the wages he deserves.
