Good to see Newcastle loan player Shane Ferguson belatedly getting his career up and running properly.
Saturday afternoon saw him starting for Millwall against Colchester and he grabbed his first goals for the loan club.
Shane Ferguson struck in the 38th and 62nd minute, the second and third goals of Millwall’s 4-1 win.
The Newcastle full-back/winger supplying two smart left-footed finishes, amongst what has to be said was some pretty desperate defending all round (watch the goals below).
Ferguson has featured in 15 of Millwall’s 17 League One games, with eight starts and seven appearances from the bench.
He was never good enough for the Premier League and the recipient of one of the ridiculously long contracts handed out to young players who were never going to make it, with others such as Haris Vuckic and Nile Ranger getting similar ones.
Good news is that he appears to have found a level where he can compete well and with his Newcastle contract ending in the summer and Ferguson turning 25 in July, it has come in the nick of time.
With a potential European Championships place to look forward to next summer as well with Northern Ireland, Shane Ferguson could be ready to really push on in the coming months.
Watch his two goals below.
