Ayoze Perez has joined Gini Wijnaldum towards the top of the Premier League power rankings, the Newcastle players at numbers 21 and 22.
The pair combined to produce the winning goal as Newcastle beat Bournemouth, despite the home side controlling most of the game.
Perez and Wijnaldum are the only Newcastle players in the top 50.
One player who has massively benefited from his display in that south coast win is Fabricio Coloccini, he was one of the players to make the largest rise in rankings, going up to No.110, an upward movement of 174 places.
The Power Rankings are a system developed by Sky Sports to reflect a player’s performance over the previous five weeks (of games) – each preceding week is worth fewer points.
This means that the Power Rankings reflect the most in-form players of the moment, with your most recent match the most important and then working backwards/down in terms of importance.
After each set of matches the power rankings are updated, with a list of the top 50 players published.
Still living in hope that Coloccini and one or two others of Newcastle’s defensive players get somewhere close to the upper reaches one day…
