Newcastle 0 Leicester 3 Saturday 21 November 3pm
We asked a number of our regular writers to give us a brief instant reaction after the final whistle, to talk about some aspect of the match:
“The manager has to take some responsibility for that showing.
“The team had no shape, devoid of ideas, and the players a definite lack of commitment (forget about talking about talent).
“Is this really a premier league team? They may be at present but not for much longer if this continues.”
“Pedestrian, one-paced, never got going and never looked like winning.
“A complete surrender from a gutless team.
“Apart from that…Coloccini played Leicester onside four times in the first half – joke of a player.”
“We just witnessed a Leicester training session. Not one player showed fight, desire, leadership or pride wearing the black & white of Newcastle there this afternoon.
“The most worrying thing is that no one involved in match day proceedings appeared to care.
“Tough times ahead.”
“The first half was just boring, the second half we were totally destroyed.
“They played to their strengths and took 3 easy points.
“Again, 1 up front didn’t work and McClaren needs to have a long look at himself.
“Tactically he was totally lacking today.”
“Worst it’s been this season. Performances have been good at times but results haven’t. Today was a different story.
“I don’t think it would be possible to give anyone a man of the match, they were all that bad.
“No one willing to take responsibility, put their foot on the ball and make things happen.
“Perfect warm up for next week when Pardiola gets one over on us.”
Leazes Park Ender:
“A terrible day for all concerned with Newastle Utd.
“Losing 0-3 at home and now the chance to kick on has been spurned. What the problem is at the club is a mystery given the quality of some of the players.
“Is it the manager? Too many foreign players? His coaching team? Bad luck? Or a combination of them all?
“I’m not sure it’s a knee jerk reaction now to question McClaren’s position. He’s taken us right into a relegation battle with £50m spent.”
“We were pretty pathetic.
“Leicester were excellent, but in truth allowed to be by our sad sack mob.
“Pure pants. Sort it out SMAC. Well played Vardy, good luck lad.”
