Leicester City moved top of the table and with a clean sheet behind him, Foxes goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel had plenty to be happy about.

However, he chose to praise others in the aftermath of a commanding performance by all of the visiting team, in every position they bossed the game.

Not surprisingly, Jamie Vardy was top of his list, Schmeichel congratulating his teammate on making it 10 scoring games in a row.

Maybe tellingly, the Danish keeper referred to hard work as being the striker’s big ‘secret’ to his success.

Kasper Schmeichel went on to then praise the whole team and indeed the squad, talking of the unity, team spirit….in fact everything that Newcastle appear to be lacking.

However, Schmeichel did spot one ‘classy’ performance from the home side on Saturday, the keeper giving credit to the Newcastle fans for the ‘respect’ that they showed in acknowledging Jamie Vardy’s achievement.

Kasper Schmeichel describing it as a ‘Very classy touch’ by the United fans. Well I never, the contribution of the Newcastle supporters the only thing to emerge with any credit, we’ll add it to the list…

Kasper Schmeichel:

“10 in 10 A quite remarkable achievement. I have said it before, you get what you deserve especially when you work as hard as this guy does!

“A massive shout to all the team, another great performance!

“This is a team game and everyone has to contribute and that is what we do and that goes for the players in the starting 11 and everyone else in the entire squad. Everyone deserves massive credit!

“It is a rarity to be a part of a squad with this much unity and team spirit.

“Also credit to the Newcastle fans for the respect they showed Vards. Very classy touch.”
