Danny Simpson has revealed that he has spoken to both Gabriel Obertan and Tim Krul ahead of Saturday.
Simpson has forced his way into being first choice right-back over the course of the last month at Leicester and with the Foxes third in the table, obviously he’s very much on a high.
The full-back , with Danny Simpson hoping to scrounge a car park pass at St James Park.
Simpson played 104 league games for Newcastle, including 35 matches in the season when United finished fifth and put in easily their best defensive year for at least the last five seasons.
The full-back is likely to be up against Gini Wijnaldum, although with Newcastle not really playing out and out wingers it remains to be seen what formation Steve McClaren uses on Saturday.
Danny Simpson speaking to the official Leicester City website:
“It’s the first time I’ve been there since I left so I’m looking forward to it. I spent four years there so it’s a big chunk of my career when I was growing up and learning the game so I’m looking forward to going back.
“I still know some of the faces there so I’m looking forward to it and if we can get the three points that would make it even better.
“I spoke to Gabriel Obertan the other day and I also spoke to Tim Krul because I wanted a car park pass! I spoke to him to see how him and his family were, so I’ve spoken to a few of the lads and it was all friendly, but come Saturday I don’t know them, it is all business.
“They’ve got some good strong runners like Georginio Wijnaldum and Moussa Sissoko then you’ve got a few other lads that can come in that are a little more lightweight but very tricky.
“Whoever plays on the flanks, your game will change defensively depending on who it is, so we’ll have to watch that. I think they like to use Sissoko and Wijnaldum to break but we can use that to our advantage because we can hit them going the other way.
“We’ll have a chat with the manager in the next couple of days and we’ll see what we’re going to do.”
