Club publish photo to prove 7 Newcastle players have turned up for training on Sunday

Steve McClaren made a big point of saying that the Newcastle players would be hauled in for extra training on Sunday.

It was due to be a day off but in what appeared to be a feeble attempt to placate supporters, the Head Coach said that the fans travel a long way to support the team…and the only way to improve things is by getting on the training pitch.

Remember, it was only Friday afternoon when Steve McClaren declared that he had had his best ever week’s training with the players in the lead up to the Crystal Palace match.

Maybe it is LESS training the team needs and not MORE, if the likes of yesterday’s shocker is the result.

Steve McClaren on Saturday after the match:

“We hadn’t planned it (training on Sunday).

“We are doing it specially…that (performance v Palace) wasn’t right.

“As I said, the fans travel a long way and we need to sort it out.

“We can only sort it out on the training field.

“We can only do it with the group and together with what we have.”

Sunday morning has seen the club publish a photo on Twitter to prove that the players have actually turned in for this extra session. The message with the photo is:

“TRAINING: The players are training today, following yesterday’s defeat at Crystal Palace.”

I do honestly shake my head at the ineptitude of those at Newcastle United, both on and off the pitch.

If they are going to go through with a charade such as this, in an attempt to convince us there is some real desire to turn things around, at least show us an image that will inspire us a little bit – make us believe in at least a small way.

I didn’t expect to see photos of the whole team being savagely whipped on the training ground but surely they could have done a bit better than this…

Only seven players wearing more layers of clothes than Scott on his jaunt to the South Pole, all but walking, some distance behind the coach.

To be honest this image below just makes me relive once again the lack of commitment yesterday.
