Cheick Tiote has moved to reassure Newcastle supporters that leaving St James Park isn’t what he is thinking about at this moment in time.

Asked about his future and the speculation about a January move, the United said that his only interest was in trying to help Newcastle move further up the Premier League table.

Cheick Tiote was yesterday linked with a move to the MLS and  New England Revolution but at least for the time being, he finds himself guaranteed a place in the team.

With Jack Colback injured, due to the limitations of his squad, Steve McClaren has little other option than to play both Tiote and Vurnon Anita in the middle of the pitch.

After being comprehensively outplayed by Bournemouth last time out, the Newcastle pair will face a similarly high energy Leicester midfield om Saturday and will need to massively raise their game if United are to have control of the middle of the pitch.

Cheick Tiote (when asked about yesterday’s transfer speculation):

“We just need to try to focus on being higher in the table.

“We have been at the bottom for a long time, we need to do everything to look forward.

“We need to work every day in training and try to win some games.

“Sometimes we need some luck and we have played well in the last few games but we don’t have chances to score.”
