Ayoze Perez says it is going to be a ‘beautiful game’ against Crystal Palace

When asked about Saturday’s match at Selhurst Park, Ayoze Perez says that it will be a ‘good game, a beautiful game’ – well let’s all hope so.

An ugly 1-0 like at Bournemouth would do just as well but realistically, any more displays like that and we won’t be winning any games in the near future.

Asked about the mood in the camp this week, Ayoze Perez accepts it hasn’t been ‘as good as we would like’, which isn’t surprising after the Steve McClaren revelations on Wednesday night.

The win at Bournemouth was the first on the road in 10 months but Perez thinks that victory on the south coast will give the team confidence, though it was certainly nowhere to be seen against Leicester last weekend.

Ayoze Perez revealed that his brother is the spitting image of him and he often confuses the fans when he sits amongst them at away matches.

Bit of a shame that he can’t play like him as well because Ayoze Perez, just like last season, has been one of very few positives so far this time around.

Ayoze Perez talking to the club’s official tv channel:

“It is a really important game and we are focusing on Crystal Palace. We know we didn’t play well enough last Saturday and we are training hard and know we have to take the points.

‘What’s the mood been like the last few days?’

Well…not as good as we would like but we are still out of the relegation (zone) but we have to work on some things.”

‘Will getting the three points at Bournemouth give us a psychological boost for our next away game (Palace)?’

“Yes, it was a strange game but we got the points after too long a time without getting points away (last away win 10 months ago at Hull).

“So it is confidence for us because we believe we can take points wherever.”

‘Do the fans inspire the fans even more to get points?’

“Of course, the fans are always with us, it is a big support for us and amazing.”

‘Your brother Samuel often goes away from home on the team bus and sometimes sits with the fans, what does he say?’

“He really enjoys that experience, the support, the environment, everything.

“Sometimes they ask if it is me because we look like twins, everyone stops him and asks for pictures.”

‘Up against Alan Pardew, just another game?’

“It is going to be a good game, a beautiful game. Good thoughts about Pardew last year because he brought me to the team and gave me the chance to play.”
