Ayoze Perez says that he and Aleksandar Mitrovic are great friends on and off the pitch and together they are ‘going to score a lot of goals for Newcastle’.

The pair combined with Gini Wijnaldum to score a brilliant team goal against Bournemouth, a moment of rare quality and attacking intent from Newcastle on the day.

That makes it five goals in the last six matches for the striking duo, with the potential to be a great partnership with their contrasting attributes.

Ayoze Perez says sometimes you have to play ‘worse’ to get the win and whilst it isn’t a great strategy long-term, it certainly was the case ay Bournemouth.

The Spaniard hopes that he and his teammates come back stronger after the break and get some more wins, playing decent football.

As for the Newcastle fans who sold out the away section despite the ridiculous lunchtime kick-off, Ayoze Perez says that the supporters just don’t care how far they have to go to follow the team and had a one word description of them…’Crazy’!

Ayoze Perez speaking to NUFC TV:

“I think today everyone is happy. It wasn’t our best game but we got the three points and that is the most important thing.

“That is the Premier League, sometimes you have to play worse and take points, that is what we did today and now we have the international break, then come back stronger to fight for more points.”

Man of the match:

“We are really happy for Rob Elliot, he deserved the man of the match and he is fit again, so that is a good thing for us. Everybody’s happy.

“It (partnership with Mitrovic) is getting better and better, we have a good relationship inside and outside the pitch, so we are getting better and we are going to score a lot of goals for Newcastle.

“Last game we had many chances but didn’t score, this game with only one, we won the game. We fought together and we have to be happy as we are out of relegation (zone).”

The travelling Newcastle fans?

“They are crazy…crazy. It is a long trip but they don’t care.

“They support the team wherever and that is amazing for us.”
