Ant and Dec have admitted to being starstruck with having Kieron Dyer as a contestant on ‘I’m a celebrity…’.
The Geordie presenters say they usually like to keep a distance with the celebrities during the show but have found that difficult with the former Newcastle midfielder.
Ant says that he couldn’t resist a ‘fan boy’ moment with Kieron Dyer, asking him about his time on Tyneside.
Before going into the show, Dyer revealed that he wasn’t doing it for the money and had donated his fee to charity.
The former playing saying that he hoped to change the public’s preconceptions of him as an archetypal modern day football player.
Hard to believe that both Ant and Dec have recently turned 40 and that the subject of their starstruck moment is only 36, it seems a long long time ago when Kieron Dyer was at Newcastle.
“We were really excited when Kieron Dyer signed up because we’re obviously Newcastle United fans and he was a great player for Newcastle.”
“We never talk to the celebrities when there is downtime and we are with them, as we try to retain some distance.
“But I was with Kieron Dyer when we met them from the helicopter and had a bit of a ‘fan boy’ moment and asked him about playing for Newcastle.
“I’ve never done anything like that in 15 years – it was good!”
“This is definitely the best line-up there has been for a few years.
