Alan Shearer wanted to use a five letter word to describe Newcastle’s performance against Leicester but was unable to use it on TV…
The word was trending on social media after the humiliating 3 goal defeat and team performance but Shearer came up with a few other words that he could substitute for that one.
The word on Twitter was ‘SHITE’ and when four letter words just aren’t enough….why not use that extra letter.
As Alan Shearer says, getting beat isn’t the main issue here, it was the nature of the game and not simply the scoreline.
Every player in the Leicester team was not only better than their Newcastle counterpart, they worked two, three…ten times as hard as well.
Shearer came up with ‘woeful, embarrassing, hopeless, inept’ to sum up what he had just watched, none of them of comfort to anybody who is bothered about Newcastle United.
Which is something you could accuse the Newcastle players of based on their display against Leicester, with just maybe one or two exceptions if you are generous.
Alan Shearer speaking on Match of The Day analysing Newcastle v Leicester:
“There was one word, a five letter word, that was trending in Newcastle today about the performance. I can’t use it here for obvious reasons…
“Words that I can use: woeful, embarrassing, hopeless, inept.
“There was just a lack of effort, passion and commitment.
“You can put in a poor performance but you cannot accept a lack of effort like the Newcastle players did.
“I watched them come out in the second half and they were walking around, there was just no commitment to the game and it is just not acceptable.”
