Before Saturday afternoon’s game against Leicester, Alan Shearer wished Jamie Vardy all the best in making it 10 Premier League scoring games in a row.

However, the Newcastle legend said he hoped that if indeed Vardy did score, it was only a consolation.

The aftermath of the performance and result though, means that there is no consolation for any Newcastle fan after what happened in this 90 minutes.

Newcastle were terrible and Jamie Vardy could and should have had a hat-trick, rather than just the one goal he did get.

Alan Shearer congratulated the striker at half-time only seconds after Jamie Vardy had scored to put Leicester deservedly ahead at the break.

Then at full-time, Shearer sad he had ‘run out of words’ to describe how Newcastle have been playing.

In the end he needed only one word to sum up today…’Woeful’!

Alan Shearer pre-match:

“Good luck today at Newcastle Jamie Vardy,  But hoping any goal is just a consolation!”

“Congratulations Jamie Vardy. Great finish. Newcastle have been awful in the first half.”

“I’ve run out of words to describe the Newcastle performances, so I’ll stick with ‘woeful’ again!”
