Paul Simpson says that it is ‘good news all round’ when it comes to Newcastle injury news in the lead up to the derby match.

Steve McClaren’s assistant says that what usually happens after a good win is that funnily enough everybody is fighting fit, with that being the case after the 6-2 victory over Norwich.

Simpson says that the plan with Paul Dummett and Massadio Haidara worked perfectly, with the two players getting part of the game each on Sunday, he expects both to have really come on from that game in this next week.

It was also a double relief with Jack Colback, physically he came through the 90 minutes ok, plus he avoided the yellow card which would have been his fifth and an automatic ban for the derby game.

For those coming back from injury, the first team coach says that both Rolando Aarons and Kevin Mbabu are now both back in full training, with a possibility of being in contention for Sunday and the Stadium of Light.

Paul Simpson speaking to the club’s official tv channel:

“Going from the weekend, which normally happens when you have a nice victory, we haven’t got anybody reporting injuries.

“Everybody gad trained, delighted that Paul Dummett was able to get 60 minutes, which was always the plan. That plan worked fantastic and the fact Massadio Haidara was able to get the next part of the game.

“Jack Colback came through the game ok, delight ed he didn’t pick up a yellow card so he is available for Sunday.

“Kevin Mbabu and Rolando Aarons joined in training today (Tuesday), so they will have a full week of training leading up to Sunday.

“So good news all round.”
