Sergio Aguero is obviously a class act but despite scoring a handful against Newcastle United on Saturday afternoon, he is still no match for Alan Shearer.

If only Alan Shearer had been playing centre-back today…

Aguero’s first goal in the 6-1 win was his 80th in the Premier League, before he also went on to add his 81st, 82nd, 83rd and 84th as well.

It has taken Aguero 128 Premier League matches to reach 80 goals, the third fastest in PL history.

Ruud van Nistelrooy did it in 122 games, whilst Alan Shearer did it in a remarkable 102 PL matches.

Sergio Aguero also became the latest member of the 5 goal club, the Argentine scoring his quintet against Newcastle, thus joining Andy Cole, Alan Shearer, Dimitar Berbatov and Jermain Defoe, the other four players to score five in a Premier League match.

Shearer’s five goals of course coming against Sheffield Wednesday in Sir Bobby Robson’s first match at St James Park.

I shudder to think what could have happened if Pellegrini hadn’t taken off Aguero with 25 minutes still to go…
