The Premier League recent form table is just as depressing for the two north east teams as the full table.
None of the bottom seven have won more than one match in the last half dozen, a little surprising to see Liverpool included in that considering the money thrown at the team.
For Newcastle and Sunderland it is depressing stuff with Newcastle only saved by the Norwich result, whilst the mackems are one of only two clubs to have not won a game in these last half dozen rounds of fixtures.
Sunderland of course the only club not to win any Premier League match this season and let’s hope that is the case come Sunday night.
For inspiration, you only need to look at what three wins in a row have done for Stoke City, going from relegation zone to respectable mid-table in a few results.
Stating the obvious but clearly Newcastle need to do something similar in this run of ‘winnable’ games.
They have done the hardest bit by winning the first one, now they need to keep that momentum running.
