Here is the predicted Newcastle team v Stoke.
I can’t imagine too many changes from Steve McClaren despite the three goal defeat by the mackems.
This is down to a few reasons, with two at the top of the list.
Despite the scoreline Newcastle played pretty well at Sunderland before, and indeed after, the red card for Coloccini.
Also, there aren’t really that many other options, or at least not ones that would improve the team.
Jack Colback is suspended on Saturday but also out for at least six weeks after being ‘Cattermoled’ on Sunday.
Unless McClaren makes a number of positional changes, which he won’t, it is very hard to see him doing anything but pairing Cheick Tiote and Vurnon Anita in the middle of the pitch.
Both Rolando Aarons and Kevin Mbabu are set to be available but I can’t see either of them starting.
Paul Dummett will hopefully have come on for another week’s training, whilst going forward it would appear foolhardy to consider changing any of Wijnaldum, Mitrovic, Sissoko and Perez.
To create the image above I used the NUFC team selector.
You can do the same by following the simple instructions HERE and then there are a number of great options where you can then also share your team via Twitter (include @nufcthemag in your tweet and we will share some of them with our 16k+ followers) , or you can share the selector on Facebook with friends, family and the rest of the black and white world. Alternatively, simply downloading the team image to the device you are using
When using the NUFC team selector you simply click on what team formation (4-3-3, 4-4-2 etc) you want, then click each position on the pitch and choose from the Newcastle United squad.
